Winter Solstice Workshop

Join Grace and Viviane (the Sark sound healer) to honour Yule at sunset through a journey of Reiki-infused Yin, Yoga Nidra and sound healing.

In winter the earth rests, we are inviting you to do the same.

The evening will look a little like this:

4:30pm - 5:30pm Yin

5:30pm - 5:50pm Yoga Nidra

5:50pm - 6:30pm Sound bath

The winter solstice marks the passage of time where the power of the sun starts to return. The sun appears to stand still at this point for 3 days before swinging farther north again.

Yule is the pagan celebration that emphasises themes of trust, the return of light and rebirth.

This moment marks the height of Yin energy, a time to pause, get quiet, take our energy inwards, rest and reflect on the year past and set intentions for the rebirth happening within this fertile darkness.

Join us to nourish your inner light as you are guided on a cosmic journey within.

Yin

Yin is a slow-paced, inward practice that aims to penetrate and nourish the deep Yin tissues (tendons & ligaments & fascia).

By holding poses on the floor, supported by blocks, bolsters & blankets for around 3-5 minutes, and following each pose with a rebound (lying down) - fluid is released hydrating connective tissues, improving flexibility, freedom & support.

The practice itself will have emphasis on your water element which governs winter and is associated with your kidney and bladder meridian channels.

In TCM, the kidney and bladder organs store and regulate our vital essence known as Jing. The kidneys are referred to the root of life, and just like nature in winter time, require a substantial amount of rest to maintain harmony. When kidney energy is depleted, we may feel wobbly, fearful and anxious.

It is crucial we conserve as much energy as possible and align with nature’s rhythms to maintain good health and feel energised come Spring - and this is exactly what this practice encourages. You are most welcome to lie down for the entire class if that’s what you need!

*please note we will have to modify your practice if you are hyper mobile or pregnant (at any stage), so please let Grace know in advance.

Yoga Nidra

Melting from the energy of Yin we will rest into the spirit of Yoga Nidrā.

Yoga Nidrā which translates to ‘yogic sleep’ works with the power of intention to move life in a more positive direction. In essence it is a guided meditation into a liminal space of consciousness where you are not sleeping but not awake.

The practice is adaptogenic in nature, so you will receive what is most needed in the moment.

Sound bath

We’ll finish the practice in a cocoon of vibration, where body, mind and spirit are invited to fully rest.

Viviane the Sark sound healer is venturing over just for us - what a treat!

The healing frequencies emitted in ancient sound healing, which uses Tibetan singing bowls, harmonises the body's cells and brainwave activity.

Sink deeper into a blissful state as you receive a deeply restorative sound bath complemented by the Asian bamboo flute.

Reiki will be infused throughout the entire session.
