Class info & FAQs

  • Our classes are held upstairs in St Martin’s Community Centre, please remove shoes before entering the space - thank you!

All weekly yoga classes are drop-in - no booking required.

As is traditionally recommended, please refrain from eating two hours prior to class. If you do need to eat then fruit is OK.

  • £12 drop-in for adults and £8 per student, or 5 tokens can be purchased in advance for £55 and used in any of our classes. Payment can be made in cash or by bank transfer - please ask the teacher for bank details. Sorry, no payment by card/phone.

  • We recommend wearing comfortable tightly fitting clothes such as t-shirts or vest-tops with leggings or shorts, bringing a jumper and socks for relaxation.

    Classes are practiced barefoot.

Please bring your own mat if you can, for hygiene reasons, but we do have ones you can borrow if needed.

Bolsters, blankets, eye pillows etc. can also be borrowed.

  • Yoga has been used as a holistic method for preventing and healing injury and illness. However it is extremely important that you please let Emma know, in confidence, of any injuries and medical conditions before the class commences.

  • Beinspired only accepts pregnant women with an existing yoga practice into our weekly classes. It is essential that you let Emma know, in confidence, that you are pregnant, regardless of the stage of pregnancy.

We know what it’s like when you’re keen to get to a yoga class to support the postnatal period but on-demand breastfeeding or bottle feeding dictates otherwise. For this reason, at Beinspired we are keen that postnatal women are given the opportunity to bring their babes in arms (babies who pretty much stay in one place, so not crawling or toddling) to our classes so that they can be fed as needed.

Yoga Styles

Beinspired offers various yoga styles and approaches, which differ between teachers and purpose. Click on a style below to find out more and discover which will suit you best.

  • Combining classical and Tantric practices, Emma’s approach to yoga is about creating greater freedom on all levels of being, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and energetic.

The sessions weave together a combination of asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), mudra (hand gestures), yantra (visualisations) and mantra (sound).

Emma’s teachings have been influenced by various teachers and traditions, most notably the teachings of Desikachar and the Scaravelli-inspired approach to practice, with its focus on freeing the spine and the mind, working with the body, not against it, creating greater stillness so that purusha - the transcendental self or our consciousness - may reveal more of itself.

All levels of ability and experience are welcome, no need to book, please just feel to drop-in.

Please note that yoga is a spiritual practice and thus to really experience the benefits one must commit to practising regularly!

  • A deliciously gentle, nourishing, healing and nurturing practice for all women regardless of age or experience (including absolute beginners) giving you the space to connect with and come home to yourself, perhaps hearing more easily (or for the first time) the innate wisdom of yoni (sacral chakra) and the loving guidance of your heart (heart chakra) in the process.

The practice weaves together various Tantric techniques including asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), mantra (sound), yantra (visualisation), mudras (hand positions), and guided relaxations (including yoga nidra).

Non competitive in approach, you are invited to close your eyes and go within, resting when needed, to truly make this the practice that meets your own needs in the moment - like the moon we women are cyclical in nature, therefore what we need changes throughout the month.

This is a brilliant practice for those who are experiencing change in their lives, navigating menstrual issues, peri-menopause, fertility issues, anxiety, depression, grief, loss of sense of self, confusion, lack of direction, tiredness, and general loss of vitality. Also for those keen to delve deeper into the chakras and the energy body.

  • This is the ideal antidote to our busy, frentic and information overloaded lives - a deeply restful and healing experience to calm the mind, release tension from the body, uplift the spirt and nourish the soul.

You will likely leave feeling much more centred, grounded, calm, peaceful and whole than when you arrived – an act of self-love - your heart and soul will be grateful!

The practice itself is slow and gentle incorporating pranayama (breathing techniques), asana (postures), yoga nidra (a powerful guided meditation/relaxation technique) and sound healing.

The class is suitable for all ages and levels of ability including complete beginners and those who feel stiff and out of shape! Please feel to do as little or as much as you like, you can lie the whole session if you choose!

All props are available to borrow including blankets and bolsters, please bring a yoga mat, cushions and whatever else is needed to be super comfortable.

Sessions are monthly, please check the Events for details of the next one.
