The heart chakra is the seat of our emotions, while the throat chakra provides the pathway to express them. In Ayurveda, the solar plexus chakra is known as the city of gems, where we may process and digest our food stuff and emotions. There is often a direct link between our emotions and eating – what’s eating us?
The diaphragm sits between the solar plexus and the heart and can act as a cap, preventing us truly feeling our life experiences and emotions and not allowing them to be digested and moved through us. This often isn’t conscious, only that the pain and trauma that life brings can be too much for us to feel in any given moment. However, when the emotions get stuck, this can lead to feelings of sadness, frustration and anger, and can cause digestive complaints, respiratory issues, sexual problems, as well as negatively impacting our immunity and ability to truly relax into ourselves.
Working with the solar plexus, the heart and the throat, we can help to bring up, process and let go of emotions that have not been allowed release. We can free these energy centres, enabling better digestion and easier breathing, whilst calming the mind and helping us to feel lighter and better within ourselves.
This session is timed perfectly with Samhain, the most important Pagan festival of the year, where the veils between the worlds are at their thinnest, allowing us to go deeper into all levels of our being. It is the beginning of the Celtic new year, beginning at sunset, which allows us let go of the past so we can begin this ‘new year’ afresh.
The session will look a little like this:
9.30 - 10.45am - Yoga
Gentle yoga asana led by Emma to release energy blocks and free the spine, weaving breathing practices and mudra sequences to help connect to the solar plexus and heart.
10:45 - 11:30am – Kirtan
