Sound Health Yoga Workshop

A workshop exploring the role of sound and mantra in yoga.

Emma is very excited to invite her Vedic chanting teacher, Helen Macpherson, and partner, Andy Curtis-Payne, to the Island to share their knowledge and experience of using sound in yoga practice. 

This will be explored through a combination of practices including āsana, prāṇāyāma and chanting (mantra), as well as philosophy and textual references. This one-day immersion course will help to expand your experience and knowledge of yoga techniques by using sound as part of yoga training and you will get to feel for yourself the many benefits of integrating sound into your practice.  

WHEN: Saturday 7th September 2019 

TIME: 9.30am to 4.30pm including tea breaks and lunch break (lunch not provided). 

WHERE: St Martin’s Parish Hall 

WHO CAN ATTEND: Everyone! 

WHAT TO BRING: A yoga mat, blanket and a cushion. Chairs will be provided.  

COST: £70 per person.

Helen Macpherson is a yoga teacher in the tradition of TKV Desikachar and Sri T Krishnamacharya with a special interest in the use of sound and mantra. She has studied Vedic chanting for over twenty years and is currently running an international Vedic Chant teacher training course with her own chant teacher Radha Sundararajan. Helen also teaches classes and one-to-one therapeutic sessions and assists her partner Andy in Yoga Teacher Training Courses.

Andy Curtis-Payne is a yoga teacher, therapist and teacher-trainer with over twenty-five years of experience in group work, master classes and one-to-one consultations. Recently he has particularly focused on working therapeutically with individuals with a range of physical, mental and emotional conditions and is keen to promote the highest standards in this growing area. He also trains yoga teachers in the tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar and acts as a Mentor to qualified yoga teachers. Andy is currently Chair of the Society of Yoga Practitioners.
