Setting ourselves free as we head to the full moon lunar standstill
We are now less than a week away from the full moon lunar standstill, and I can see that we are each being asked to go deeper still to set ourselves free and create a new way of being from the heart. People are asking, “what do I want to do with my life?” and the universe is waiting for us to decide, as it also tries to nudge us forwards.
I have noticed themes - the root chakra especially is calling out for our attention, to notice old wounding which causes bouts of anxiety and a loss of feeling safe when triggered. This loss of stability in the root chakra can cause a closing to the crown and heart because of the increased vulnerability, and within all this a feeling of insecurity and loss of confidence in the solar plexus - our boundaries are pushed and we can easily go into overwhelm.
It is interesting how the wounding in our base chakra can lead to us taking perceived safe jobs or entering into safe relationships, which meet the need for security but can lack fulfilment, love, joy and intimacy. This can lead to feelings of frustration and being stuck/trapped. Many are beginning to see this and are keen for change.
Many are finding that in reclaiming their feeling of safety - caring less what others think, challenging their perception of safety, healing the initial wounding by letting go of old stories and narratives, and of course forgiveness - that they are reclaiming their power and are able to open their hearts to greater vulnerability and intimacy so that they can make different choices, which bring greater love and freedom.
I have been going through this in my own life too. My yoga teacher has been taking me deeper into my knees, thighs and hips where much of my fear resides and I have been sharing this with my students so inevitably many of them have been in a similar process. I have been working with daily Yoga Nidra and an appropriate affirmation for over a month now to help release this wounding and re-programme my subconscious to recognise that I am - we are all - essentially safe, protected and loved.
Little did I realise how much this would take me on an inner journey to help me look at whatever does not resonate with this Sankalpa. Yoga Nidra is a powerful practice when we keep working with the same Sankalpa - never underestimate how it can usher positive transformation into our lives as I have written about in my books.
When I reflect, the universe has been trying to show me this all year. There have been incidences, curved balls, that initially appeared challenging and yet I can now see that they were just highlighting to me that the universe always has our back, it is just that our mind creates stories which tell us otherwise, because of experiences in our past, where we have felt unsafe.
This has helped me clear another layer of old patterns so that there is less pull from the past. What I have personally noticed, is not just a lifting of the spirit and a strengthening of faith and trust, and an opening of the heart, but of a strengthening to boundaries - a clearer sense of self and what is acceptable and not, a greater recognition of one’s worth perhaps.
It is an exciting time for me; I am enjoying witnessing the changes in my students and clients lives as they each respond to the call to play their role in the shift happening in the collective consciousness that the moon is ushering in. This is most definitely a big year of change and I have no doubt that many in my life will be making different choices over the next six months which sees them overcoming their fears and creating lives which are increasingly heart-directed, while opening to deeper levels of love and intimacy and standing in their greater power in the process.
No doubt if you are reading this, then you are part of this shift, so keep doing the work and looking at your patterns and what can now go. At some point we have to recognise that if we don’t do it now, then when will we do it? Using death as our adviser is helpful, so too just following the nudges that the universe is gifting, noticing the signs in nature, the birds and animals and the wisdom they are bringing, the coins, the feathers and the numbers.
But more than anything else, notice what the body is telling you. The body keep score and it talks to us - it is extremely intelligent, more than we give it credit. The body knows best, listen and honour it, that’s one of my biggest lessons of late - it’s all too easy to impose our will on our body, trying to make it something (whether that be through habit, conditioning and/or fashion) it is not, but ultimately we will lose so much of its potential magic in the process.
Be super gentle over this moon as we shift consciousness.
