Monkey sees, monkey does

There is a quote I like:

“When a monkey does something, the neurons in its motor cortex fire in the characteristic pattern that shapes the behaviour in question […] the motor neurone in a second monkey, who is only passively observing the behaviour of the first monkey, fire in the same pattern as those of the first monkey - thereby mirroring the observer behaviour “in imagination”.

This explains learned behaviour - as parents we need to be mindful what we are teaching our children through our behaviours.

It also helps us understand how, in yoga for example, watching how others move, can influence how we move.

It also demonstrates the power of the imagination and how this can help us create a new reality, if we choose.
