The moon and old patterns and following your joy

Yes, it is true, things are jittery and uncertain, plans changing rapidly, nothing quite as stable as we might like, curved balls coming in, change upon us without us necessarily wanting it. I blame the moon. She is in her lunar standstill now and shifting quickly from one day rise and set to the other and this carries on until July. She will be best seen at her southerly rise and set on the full moon (as full moons are clearer) in June, but she is doing the same extremes this month and July too.

Happy Beltane for yesterday, btw, and what a glorious day, sunrise was stunning and the earth energies are just amazing.

But we do need to keep our grounding and be open to the flow. I can feel old patterns popping up in my life so I imagine they might be popping up in yours too, to help you go deeper still, another round of healing is afoot, at least, if you want to set yourself free of these patterns over the years ahead.

Many are waking up to the illusion, for example, realising that what was sold as women’s empowerment is anything but that, but an opportunity for the powers that be to encourage consumerism and capitalism back in the 50s and this continues on today. Women are beginning to realise the sacrifices they are making, children growing up in a blink of the eye while they are busy in the office making shareholders richer, and their health suffering as they don’t even have time to eat properly let alone relax without feeling that a glass of wine might help.

More of the illusion is being seen in other ways too. For example, I heard that governments are finally confirming that cloud seeding is real and there are plans to keep masking the sun because of climate concerns. A bit crazy if you ask me, given that the sun is the provider of life. I try not to despair, when humans think they know best, when nature has been perfectly contented doing her thing since the beginning of time and yet here we are with our science and technology and thinking we can do better and meanwhile I’m told that cancer rates in Guernsey (in my generation especially) are on the increase, that’s how well we’re adapting to modern life with all its EMF, plastics, chemicals, fast food, stress and fast paced living.

I don’t want to depress you, there is much to be hopeful about; the moon is glorious and the hedgerows look amazing, the sea is swimmable in again (for those of us who can’t tolerate the cold winter seas!), and the cosmic forces are really trying to help us wake up and see the bigger picture, realise that we have one precious life and what on earth are we doing with it?

This is certainly the theme coming up for my clients lately and I am very proud of them for looking honestly at their lives and into the shadows that might motivate their choices - are we choosing from conditioning and fear or from consciousness and love? It’s a good question to ask oneself when it comes to decision making. I have said this many, many times, but we have to be careful taking on board other people’s judgements and opinions (I know this only too well), because they are not generally party to our soul’s deepest yearnings and may be completely content living under the illusion and in the first attention.

Further, people will always project their unresolved crap at us, make us wrong and them right. Ultimately their judgement and opinions are never truly based on a full set of facts, the major one of course being ‘spirit’ or karma/destiny or whatever you want to call it, being taken into account. For those of us open to soulful connection, of course we will see the world differently to everyone else, and want to live it differently, outside the material and capitalist conditioning.

We would do well to remember the journey of the Tarot, how an upcoming child unsteps the King/Queen, this because they bring in new knowledge and new ways of doing things, to improve the old, despite the degradation of time, and how this ushers in new ways of being, evolution perhaps, which is always born of pain and suffering, and out of adversity. There is a reason we experience painful moments in our life, whether that be through sickness, loss of someone we love or whatever it may be - this is often a catalyst for change if we allow it, the Yoga Sutras validates this.

Ultimately we are all here steering our own ship, whether in choppy or calm waters - not that everyone realises this - we have made choices over the years that have brought us to this moment and this moment offers us always another choice. It is my sense that we might do well to follow what brings us joy, what lights up our heart, makes us feel passionate and alive, and avoid the rest. Sure there may be times whether we have to make sacrifices - always there are sacrifices on this path - but I don’t believe that sacrificing our heart and soul, or our health, offers any long term benefit. It certainly serves no one to choose to follow a path of stress and misery.

We are here once in this body in this lifetime, and it is my sense that we need to cultivate increasing gratitude and consciousness so that we live that life well - truly alive. It is my sense that one of the stumbling blocks is misguided guilt and the conditioning which tells us life has to be one of drudgery, misery and indeed slavery, to which we behave all been indoctrinated. There will always be testing times, let’s not kid ourselves otherwise, but this is how we grow. I don’t believe it helps us to feel guilty for the good times, and for following our joy - the guilt and miserable goes hand in hand with our first attention conditioning.

At the end of the day we will always reach a crossroads of doing what we want but sabotaging our joy by choosing guilt/undeservedness and experiencing anxiety/restlessness as a result, or throwing ALL that away, and letting go of caring what others think, leaving that first attention vibration behind and truly en-joying, embodying the joy of being alive, however that looks and whatever anyone else thinks.

Please don’t think I have mastered all of this btw, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing about it; there are always layers, a spiral then, and we will come up against the same old patterning time and time again, but from different perspectives and vantage points, usually triggered by someone else’s interference in our lives, albeit often coming from the right place. It’s helpful really, to allow us to take back our power and go deeper, free ourselves from whatever keeps us from our peace and increasingly disengage and detach from other people’s opinions and judgements and indeed perspectives in life.

We are generally always going to make different choices from the mainstream if we are taking consciousness seriously (not too serious mind!). I have seen far too many students and clients make themselves and their heart and soul wrong, simply because they don’t fit in. Celebrate your differences, follow your joy and live your truth, regardless of what anyone else thinks of you.

Enjoy the weekend.
