Happy solstice from Carnac

Sun rising down the Kermario line

Carnac was as magical as ever, and being that little bit farther south, sunrise was not until 6.15am, which made it easier to embrace the moment!

We’re on the standstill, before the sun begins rising a little later each morning, as we begin the gentle descent into the darkness of winter, six months from now. It’s not until 1 July that the nights actually start drawing in so make the most of the time between now and then to enjoy the 9.20pm sunset here on Guernsey.

Visiting a few of the stones in Carnac and farther afield the last few days has been wonderful, despite the 30-38 degree heat. I love nothing more than the solitude of some of the spots in French forests, sitting in dolmens with only the sound of the birds and the bees. It’s always a shock returning to Guernsey and the sound of the planes coming into land.

If you do find yourself near a dolmen, go sit against a stone that calls and see what it might like to share with you. Sometimes you might get an image or see colours, and sometimes you might even hear what it has to say. Try not to doubt it, these stones have deep wisdom if we listen.

Happy solstice and summer tidings.

Love Emma x
