Major lunar standstill, change and overwhelm - slow down!
We’re in the major lunar standstill right now, of the most southerly moon rise and set. The actual most southerly was just after the Spring equinox, but it was only a degree more in April and same today in May. In June we’ll actually get to see it on the full moon, and then just before the July full moon, at which point it begins its swinging again, towards the minor standstill 9.3 years away.
As it did 18.6 years ago, and 18.6 years before then, and on and on back in time, the moon is majorly changing things. The year 2006 was the last time that it was in major lunar standstill and this was not only the year that Beinspired was born, but that yoga exploded into the West and a wave of consciousness came in, waking people up and setting in motion the divide which Covid highlighted, between love and fear, those prepared to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing (their wealth) and those dependent on the system.
This lunar standstill is promoting yet more of us to see through the illusion, and witness more of the illusionary nature of our lives. Many have been doing the work and intuitively making changes, my spiritual life coaching clients are thriving because of it, but many have been resisting change, because the fear has gotten the better of them so easier, in the short term at least, to bury their heads in the sand and hope for change, rather than taking action to create that change themselves.
Many of those people are now finding that change that been thrust upon them whether they like it or not, as there is no pretending when the moon shines increasing lights into the deepest shadows. This is what the major lunar standstill does, it teases out shadows and ways of being therefore, our limited beliefs and conditioning which are getting in the way of our evolution and expansion into lighter vibratory spiritual beings that we are.
We are more than what we can see. We are eternal and contain the cosmos within is but many have forgotten this and have been wrapped up in the 3D reality, which is making them sick. The ancient yogis knew all this, the Vedas and Upandishads as Pranay writes in his book, Vedas & Upanishads:
“Realisation of self-potential is what the Vedas are concerned with. Outwardly, the Vedic Mantras or incantations seem like they are addressed to different deities amd so on. But ultimately, the deities – in the Vedic and Upanishadic vision – reside within us., They are a reflection of all of Nature, the entirety of the cosmos, the universe – all that exists in miniature within us. It is up to us to find that purity of strength within us and to bring it to the fore. When you bring it to the fore, you find that you are joined to the subtly wonderful universe – the stars, the galaxies, the planets – all in a oneness of energy, a dance of pure energy…therefore if you start understating the Vedas in a completeness that describes the functioning of both the microcosm and the macrocosm – the individual and the universal – you begin understanding their deeper meaning…You carry cosmic energy in essence within you!”
The moon is releasing more of the veil which has prevented many from seeing and appreciating more of their truth. Those with their head in the sand have been thrown a few warnings these last six months or so, from the universe that they are off track, but the mind does a very good job of maintaining the status quo as if there is no choice. This too is an illusion; there is always choice.
But the trouble is, the choice to step into the unknown can be one of deep fear. More often than not we have scripted our life to one of comfortableness. However those doing the work on themselves are being changed by the practices and the life they have been living starts to suffocate them, but still there is fear. So they carry on, carrying on, even though the signs are there that change is needed, that a life needs mending, that the body is suffering, that the heart is deadening, that the soul needs an opportunity to expand and they are running the risk of compromising dreams, time is ticking…
And so in comes a curved ball from the universe, something which they cannot ignore.
For some this has been redundancy, for others the realisation that their romantic relationship is one of need, not true partnership of the love they seek, which they have been externalising, rather than seeking within, others faced with issues at work which highlight that corporates very rarely have heart, and all those years that we’ve slaved and given our heart to something which has sucked us dry, just because of the drive towards financial security which is an illusion anyway – because we can be made redundant, nothings truly forever, despite what society says.
Others are facing increasing health issues as they side step their emotional body, hoping that the pills and potions alone will do the inner work. But it doesn’t work this way, we can’t side step the inner work and the discomfort of feeling what has been repressed and supressed – there is still a confusion over true wealth. After all, without your health, what do you have? All the money in the world cannot buy you your health. So there comes eventually a reframe – health is your wealth, which Ayurveda has always known, but is a perspective quite at odds with the message society tells us as we compromise health to chase the buck.
More still are in overwhelm as they struggle to keep up with a pace to life which is never going to stop. AI coming in is going to change things more than phones, but people duly obey and sign up, without realising that they have a choice. We always have choice, we just don’t realise it because of our ignorance and lack of consciousness.
All the thinking and talking won’t change things. This is what got us into this mess in the first place. Our mind can only perceive reality depending on our level of consciousness in any one moment and it is the unconscious which got us into this mess, and so to free ourselves, heal and move forwards, we have to become increasingly conscious – the mind that got us into this mess cannot free us from it. Then we can chose differently - get offline, get outside, slow down, say no, rest, let go.
We have to go deeper. The moon has been gifting us the space to do so. It is up to us whether we make the most of it, or squander the space and silence with unnecessary activities and distractions.
The one thing Ireland gifted me was space, and I shall be forever grateful. Because it highlighted to me how transformative space – and indeed resting into that space - can be.
We are offered space to look deeper still, to decide what we want to leave behind before the new beginnings that the standstill is currently ushering in. We are at a crossroads. Do we want to keep on with the same old stories, the lack of love for self, the OCD tendencies, the patterns of self-sabotage, the distractions and the numbing through alcohol, the family dramas, the broken relationships, the giving up of dreams for others, the anxiety and fear. Because if we are not careful, we will take all of these things and all our broken dreams with us to the grave. Unless we take action, unless we make the most of what the moon is ushering in, then nothing really changes.
And so deeper we go, and this usually involves going into the emotional body. As
Dr Vasant Lad writes:
“Let us first deal with the emotional or psychological factors. Anger, fear, anxiety, nervousness, jealousy, possessiveness and greed are common human emotions. yet most people learn in childhood not to express these negative emotions. As a result, one begins at an early age to repress these natural expressions of these feelings., The science of Ayurveda teaches that the individual must release these emotions which, if they remain repressed will cause imbalances, resulting in disease-causing toxins.
Toxins are also created by emotional factors. Repressed anger, for example, completely changes the gut flora of the gallbladder, bile duct and small intestine and aggravates pitta [element of fire and water - we were treating this in you], causing inflamed patches on the mucus membranes of the stomach and small intestine. In a similar manner, fear and anxiety alter the flora of the large intestine. As a result, the belly becomes bloated with gas, which accumulates in pockets of the large intestine causing pain. Often this pain is mistaken for heart or liver problems. Because of the ill effects of repression, it is recommended that neither the emotions nor any bodily urge, such as coughing, sneezing and passing gas should be repressed.
Repressed emotions create an imbalance of vata [element of air and ether] which in turn affects agni [digestive fire], the body’s auto-immune response. When agni is low an abnormal immune reaction may occur.
Ayurveda recommends that emotions be observed with detachment and then allowed to dissipate. When emotions are repressed, that repression will cause disturbances in the mind and eventually in the functioning of the body”.
We cannot escape the emotional body, and currently the moon is pushing the emotional body up to be released and healed and let go of. I have seen it in my clients all week, the majority were overwhelmed and needed the Elm Bach floral remedy accordingly. It’s all become too much now. The pace of life, the speed, the expectations, the 24/7 living, and all driven by what? Fear of not keeping up? Fear of not having money? Fear of how we are perceived by others?
It's time to slow down. To take a deep breath in. To unplug, switch off, lie down, go within. Another wave of consciousness is coming in, of finding another way, of healing oneself through holistic remedies and practices, or saying no to where society wants to take us, exhausted and disempowered, easily controllable yet again. We’re beginning to see that all the money, all the titles, all the many ways we have been kept trapped, are an illusion and don’t truly bring us the happiness, joy and peace we seek.
Wake up, wake up, the moon is saying, shining a light so that you, me, all of us can see more clearly what needs to change - to recognise that we are more than what we can see. This our time to move increasingly towards balance. The Vedas and the Upanishads talk of this too, as Pranaya explains:
What the Vedas and the Upanishads come to is finishing balance in life. And that balance is created through peace, through the feeling of Ananda or bliss, and through the feeling of harmony. Where these three aspects are present, you can find fulfilment in life. You can find that you’d then succeed not only as a responsible individual in the world, but are able to to become a responsible co-leader in society, a co-leader within your terrestrial existence as an earthling. The misery of life is when you move away from harmony”
And he verifies how I see things too:
“Life is multi-dimensional. There are several layers to ourselves. Within us, there is the gross layer of the body, there is the subtler layer of the emotions and the intellect, and there is the subtle-most layer of the soul. Nourish these three aspects of your being with the three qualities of ‘Trinity’: peacefulness, happiness through friendliness, and harmony”.
We are more than what we realise. Nourish all aspects of self, including the soul. It is my experience that in nourishing the soul, while dealing with our emotional body, and going deeper into our physical body that we experience greater joy and our consciousness expands. And then we keep following this joy, as a guide, as a star, which increasingly shines brightly in our life.
It is there for every single one of us, we just have to realise it – get everything else out of the way, all our negativity, our limitations, our ways of living which keep us busy, distracted and in overwhelm – and choose to focus on our joy instead.
If this all resonates and you are not yet doing the work, or are doing the work but need more support – and I appreciate I am biased – but the spiritual life coaching is ideal – but even coming for Reiki, or becoming attuned, or lying down in one of our breath and Yoga Nidra/Rest classes is ideal, or getting on your mat and hearing your body…this is my passion because I know that here at Beinspired, I’ve been working with the moon for years now, what we offer, it can absolutely help.
