Herm Yoga & Wellbeing Autumn Retreat

Come and join us on the magical island of Herm for our annual Autumnal Yoga & Wellbeing Retreat. This extremely popular retreat provides an amazing opportunity to get away from it all and nourish and rejuvenate ahead of the Christmas demands and festivities.  

What does the retreat include?


+ Return boat transfer from/to Guernsey (boat leaves Guernsey at 4pm on Friday and leaves Herm at 11am on Sunday).

+ Shared accommodation in private rooms in the White House Cottages (single rooms at an additional supplement of £29.40 for the weekend) with free Wifi;

+ Healthy and delicious vegetarian breakfasts, lunch & evening meals, taken in the Mermaid Tavern

+ Yoga sessions including a combination of asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), guided meditation and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation). Bhakti Yoga - devotional chanting offered too.

+ Unlimited herbal teas, coffee, and snacks.

+ Free run led by JP Macé and Debbi Stokes

+ Free time to explore Herm at your leisure. 

On the Saturday, you also have the opportunity, at additional cost, to enjoy a holistic treatment and/or join a creative and inspiring jewellery making session.

The Yoga 


To Emma yoga encourages the unfolding of the true self, of allowing the spirit to shine and the heart to lighten. Teaching a flowing form of Hatha yoga, Emma encourages awareness of breath and energies of alignment so that one can experience the transformative, healing and uplifting effects of yoga for oneself.

The yoga classes take place once again in the conservatory of the White House Hotel offering superb views of the sea and the east coast of Guernsey in the background. The tempo and creativity of each class will be determined by the group energy with alternatives given where necessary. Vicki Eppelein, a fellow qualified and experienced yoga teacher, will be assisting Emma throughout the classes.

Classes are suitable for all levels of ability except absolute beginners and those who have chronic conditions and/or injuries.

 The programme


 On Friday we meet at 5.15pm for our first yoga class including asana (postures) and Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation). An evening meal will follow at 7.30pm. 

Each morning, there is the opportunity to join us for a sea swim at 7am followed by hot drinks and snacks before we begin the morning sessions at 8am with an active yoga class including breathing exercises and a relaxation. Brunch follows at 10am. 

A light meal will be served Saturday lunchtime, usually soup with a selection of cheeses and a salad.

We meet on the Saturday afternoon at 4.25pm for Bhakti yoga (chanting) or at 5.15pm for a gentle yoga class including breathing exercises, meditation and a Yoga Nidra taking us right up until the evening meal at 7.30pm.

All classes are optional.

 What treatments are on offer?


The following treatments (50 minutes each) are on offer with qualified and experienced practitioners:

Ki Massage – transformational shadow energy healing work with the popular Jo de Diepold Braham, who works out of the Natural Health Clinic when on the Island
- £70 per session

 Reflexology and/or Cranial-sacral therapy with Sarah Thackeray from Avenue Clinic
- £60 per session

Holistic massage with Kelly Harvey from Art n Soul
- £60 per session

Reiki with Emily Trebert from The Reiki Room
- £60 per session

 Please note that as all treatments take place on the Saturday and while we will endeavor to satisfy demand, places will be reserved on a first come first served basis.Payment should be made to the therapists directly.

Other activities 


+ Join Athene Sholl, a highly regarded local jeweller for a jewellery class on Saturday morning (11.30am-1pm) or on Saturday afternoon (2.30pm-4pm) to embrace your creativity. Each session will include a demonstration, tuition and the opportunity to make 1 to 2 pieces of semi-precious stone and sterling silver jewellery to take home with you. Choose from earrings, bracelets and necklaces. £55 per head, limited to eight spaces in each group, spaces being offered on a first come, first served basis. The class will accommodate participants who have previously attended and who wish to expand their skills.

+ Join JP Macé and Debbi Stokes on Saturday afternoon for a gentle run around the Island, suitable for all levels of fitness, no cost;

+ Join us for a swim in the sea (tide and weather dependent), no cost!

+ You may also like to simply make the most of the “you” time to rest, read a book, go for walk, enjoy the peace and solitude of Herm, search for “treasure” on the beautiful sandy beaches, take in the views, drink tea, chat to others or snuggle up by the warming fire. It is your retreat and we adopt an easy going attitude so that you may do as little or as much as feels right for you.

Please note that many of the activities take place at the same time on the Saturday afternoon so you may like to bear this in mind when making your selection.

 Where will I stay?


 Private, clean and comfortable en-suite rooms at the White House Hotel on a triple, double, twin or single basis (a single room supplement applies) located a short distance from the yoga space, some with sea views. 

All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers and Wifi.

Please note all rooms, especially sea-view rooms will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

 What food is provided?


All our retreats are fully catered in the Mermaid Tavern with delicious, fresh and healthy vegetarian meals, with gluten and dairy free options provided at every meal. 

We can provide alternatives for those who may have more specific dietary requirements, please just advise on the booking form.

Unlimited herbal tea, coffee and snacks are available throughout the retreat.
