BeInspired Yoga

Why Yoga?

To Emma Yoga is the process of unfolding the true self, of allowing the spirit to shine and the heart to lighten. As such Emma believes that Yoga should be a joyful and compassionate experience enhancing our life and our sense of connection to ourselves, others and humanity as a whole.

Like the proverbial story of the tortoise and the hare, Yoga favours a quiet, consistent and committed practise. It does not require that we transform ourselves overnight into something beyond our capacity, which may actually cause us harm. Yoga begins by encouraging us to accept our limitations and work with this self acceptance as a base so that through our practise we gradually and compassionately learn to transcend our limitations.

When & where?

BeInspired runs weekly general Hatha Yoga classes for both Adults & Children at St Peter's Community Hall as well as classes at St Martins Community Centre and Blanchelande college. Our current timetable is available in PDF format here. We would ask that students turn up at least 5 minutes before the start of the class. It is also recommended not to eat 2hrs prior to class.

How much does it cost?

All classes cost £9 drop-in, or you can buy a block of 5 tokens in advance for £40.

What should I wear?

Comfortable tightly fitting gym clothes such as t-shirts/vest-tops with leggings or shorts are recommended, together with a jumper and socks for relaxation. Please respect the yoga space when you enter by leaving your shoes by the door, classes are practiced barefoot.

Can anyone do yoga?

Yes. Classes are suitable for all levels of ability as consideration is given both to the needs of the individual as well as the energy of the class as a whole. Options are provided where necessary.

Yoga is non-competitive and personal in approach so it doesn’t matter about your age, your fitness level, or whether you can touch your toes – you simply start at the beginning and continue at your own pace.

What if I have injuries or medical conditions?

Yoga has been used since ancient times as a holistic method for preventing and healing injury and illness. However it is extremely important that you please let the teacher know, in confidence, of any injuries and medical conditions before the class commences.

I'm pregnant, can I do yoga?

Yes. Be inspired does accept pregnant women with an existing yoga practice into our general classes. If you do not have an existing Yoga practice please contact us before you come to class. It is essential that you let the teacher know, in confidence, that you are pregnant regardless of the stage of pregnancy. It is generally recommended that novice students refrain from practicing yoga during the 1st trimester of your pregnancy as this is the time with the greatest risk of miscarriage.

What about Children’s Yoga Classes?

Yoga can help children to relax and empower them with self-awareness, self-confidence and the ability to concentrate while developing their flexibility, strength, stamina and balance - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Be inspired tries to create a fun and nurturing environment in which children feel safe to express themselves and embrace their own individuality.

During term times Be inspired runs a weekly class for children between the ages of 8 and 14. Our current timetable is available in PDF format here

Can I arrange private classes?

Yes. Emma is happy to teach private one-on-one Yoga sessions for those who are unable to attend general classes and/or want to use Yoga to help them heal from any trauma, injury, condition or illness:-

Private Yoga classes - £50 per hour one-on-one or £60 per hour couples/two people.

Corporate and small Group Yoga classes - £65 per hour. Total rate is dependent on numbers involved (maximum 10). We offer discounted rates for school based groups.

Yoga flow

An uplifting and flowing style of Yoga, synchronising breath with movement and integrating awareness of alignment in asana (postures), to take you on an inner journey to encourage strength, flexibility, balance, focus, healing, freedom and grace; all levels welcome.

Gentle/Beginners Yoga Flow

This is a wonderful, gentle, relaxing and stretching class. Great if you are a newcomer to yoga, fatigued or stressed, or simply want a less strenuous practice. The class teaches foundation yoga postures, which form the basis of all the more advanced classes.

Yoga to de-stress

perfect class for the end of the week, combining restorative poses, passive relaxation and breathing techniques to relieve the effects of stress on the body and help to balance the central nervous system; ideal for anyone needing time out for themselves.

Power / Strong Alignment Base Yoga

A more classical view of yoga, which works very specifically on your alignment, strength and stamina. The poses are held for some time to encourage students to experience the benefits of the pose in its fullness. A must for all yoga practitioners (even beginners), as once you have mastered a posture with integrity then it becomes effortless.

Children/teenage Yoga

Yoga classes are a wonderful way to increase children and teenagers’ co-ordination, self-awareness, confidence and self esteem while they stretch and strengthen their bodies, plus they can learn to relax, concentrate and be gentle in a fun and creative environment. Ages 8 to 14.
