It was an aching body, busy mind and depressed spirit which initially brought Emma to yoga. And what started as a purely physical practice has become so much more than that so that over time she has gained a deeper understanding of the mind and its limiting and fearful nature, and an awareness of energy, heart and nature so that yoga and Reiki have become both a spiritual practice, a healing art and a way of life to her.
Born in Guernsey, Emma's life has been shaped by a love of family, Guernsey and Nepal, and a passion for travel, yoga, Reiki, writing, the moon, the sea, the land, and women’s health and wellbeing. She also feels passionate about our need to connect more consciously and responsibly with Mother Earth so that we may feel whole, joyful and grounded, and support the evolution of planetary consciousness and environmental healing.
As a dedicated yogini, mummy (with first hand experience of IVF, Placenta Previa, acute sleep deprivation, waters breaking at 33 weeks, C-sections, premature baby and the surrendering that comes with all this!), moon lover, earth spirit, white witch, UK Reiki Federation Master teacher, holistic therapist, published writer and poet, professional Company Secretary, keen sea swimmer and walker, and lover of all things nature-based, Emma has developed an eclectic approach to teaching, healing and life in general, which encourages the heart to lighten, the body to ground, the energy to flow, the spirit to shine and compassion for all beings including Mother Earth.
Emma qualified as a Yoga Alliance registered teacher with the inspiring yogi Lance Schuler of Integrated South Pacific Yoga Academy (INSPYA) in Byron Bay, Australia in 2005 before undertaking further training with the Byron Yoga Centre. She has since travelled the world extensively and has been greatly influenced by the teachings of Emil Wendel, Lance Schuler, John Ogilvie, Rod Stryker, Doug Swenson, David Swenson, Julie Gudmestad, Cyndi Lee, David Life, Stewart Gilchrist and the teachers at the Brighton Buddhist Centre.
More recently Emma is eternally grateful to Uma Dinsmore-Tuli for helping her to come home. Jai Maa!
Being so passionate about yoga and healing, Emma has continued her studies and gained a distinction in a Diploma in Advanced Yoga Teaching (Hatha Yoga) Diploma and a Diploma in Yoga Therapy from the British School of Yoga. She has also completed Level 1 & 2 of the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training in Canada. Emma is also a qualified Children’s Yoga Teacher and a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher.
